Lobe Pumps

Lobe pumps are preferred in many sectors due to their hygienic, high performance, safety, corrosion resistance and easy cleanability. They are widely used in chemical, paper, food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.

These pumps have timing gears that prevent the lobes from contacting each other. Since there is no direct contact between the lobes and they have a larger pumping cavity compared to other pump types, they can transport solid materials such as cherries and olives without damage. The lobe mounted on the pump shaft transfers the motion provided by the motor to the other lobe in the opposite direction through the timer gear.

As the lobes rotate in opposite directions, an expansion occurs in the suction section of the pump and thus the liquid is drawn into the pump. The liquid carried between the casing and the lobes is directed towards the discharge zone but does not pass between the lobes.

In the discharge zone, the lobes interlock and push the liquid outward under pressure. With each rotation of the pump shaft, the total volume of the pump is transported. This shows that the capacity, size and speed of the pump are directly proportional to each other.
